If you are interested in learning more about the day to day care of donkeys, we can offer fully inclusive residential courses from 3 to 5 days. Course details and links to other useful sources of information can be found on this page.

Handling - use of headcollar, bridle and leadrope.

Feeding - use of haynets, mangers and feed bowl, including correct quantities, types and preparation of food supplements.

Brushing - correct brushing technique and types of brushes.

Mucking Out - schedules for maintaining the shelter, bedding and fields.

Anatomy - learn the correct equine terminology.

Health - worming regime, vaccines and how to identify the signs of common health problems.

Showing - how to prepare your donkeys for a show.

Accommodation - shelter, fencing and grazing requirements.

Choosing - characteristics of different breeds, what age and sex ?

These courses are intended to provide practical advice and information about owning and caring for donkeys. In small groups you will be encouraged to join in with the daily routine, during which Briony will explain how and why various activities are carried out. During each day there will be numerous opportunities for informal discussion and to answer any questions you may have.

The 3-day course covers all the basics, while a longer stay allows time for visits to other donkey related businesses. The key areas covered and possible visit destinations are detailed below.

Instruction

A.d.a.d.a - see the donkeys cared for by the local sanctuary and get involved.

Farrier - see the farrier at work.

Soap Manufacture - using donkey’s milk.

Breeder - a day trip to a breeder of Provancale donkeys.

Walks - walking with Croquette and Tiebel around the village.

Visits / Activities

3-Day course including 4 nights full board accommodation :

275 Euros per participating adult

175 Euros per non-participating adult

5-Day course including 6 nights full board accommodation :

400 Euros per participating adult

265 Euros per non-participating adult

Based on adults/couples sharing. Visits will be organised as available or appropriate.
