Mud Power – Generation of Electricity from Mud

posted in: News & Reviews | 0

Generation of electricity from mud is a highly green innovative technology which has now been implemented in Norway in a test phase to power street lamps and other utilities. It is based on an anaerobic microbial process, where the microorganisms in the mud mix with water causing a chemical reaction that gives out an electric ion and carbon dioxide as a by-product.

In order to extract this in from the mud, metals like copper and zinc are used that acts like electrodes to make it a circuit. These can be made into small batteries that are capable of giving out 1V of output. The only drawback in this technology is that the current tends to fluctuate. The advantage is as long as the mud is moist and has enough water to cause the chemical reaction, the batteries will continue to supply the 1V output.

Great Savings – Inverter Technology in Air Conditioning!

One of the newest, low budget and energy-saving technology to be implemented. An inverter is used to control the speed of the compressor motor so that the temperature can be controlled. The input AC is converted to DC with a drive, the electrical inverter produces the desired frequency.

The installed microcontroller samples the ambient room temperature with respect to which it adjusts the motor speed. This technology and has proved to be highly efficient, with the reduction in motor speeds the consumption of power also reduces making it very cost effective. The inverter technology has so far been implemented in air conditioners and refrigerators.
